A floor plan comes before a listening claim

The Magico M9 is described as a four-way, six-driver loudspeaker approximately 2.03 metres tall and about 453.6 kg per pair. Published figures include a claimed 18 Hz–50 kHz bandwidth, 94 dB sensitivity and 4-ohm nominal impedance.[1][2] Those numbers first describe a logistics and system-matching problem.

Access route, floor loading, turning radius, final position and safe service clearance must be resolved before placement. A system of this scale cannot be treated as a conventional delivery followed by casual toe-in.

The external crossover changes the system boundary

The published architecture includes an external MXO crossover and a bi-amplified configuration.[1][2] That moves part of the loudspeaker’s behaviour into cables, electronics, gain structure and setup. The relevant product is therefore the installed system, not only the two enclosures.

Amplifier suitability cannot be inferred from sensitivity alone. Nominal impedance does not reveal the full load, and bi-amplification adds channel matching and routing requirements. Independent impedance and output data would materially strengthen the evidence.

Room interaction is not an accessory question

A claimed 18 Hz extension places substantial energy in the range where room dimensions and boundaries dominate.[1] Listening distance, seat distribution, low-frequency decay and structural transmission should be measured in the intended room. Equalisation may help after placement; it cannot make an unsuitable volume or geometry disappear.

A useful commissioning record would include positions, crossover settings, amplifier gain, in-room response and decay, plus a rollback state. Without that record, future changes become guesswork.

Evidence boundary and commissioning verdict

The M9 should be evaluated as a commissioned project. Room survey, structural access, electrical plan, amplification and measurement capability are prerequisites. If a supplier cannot document those dependencies, the published specifications describe ambition rather than a completed system.
